This is the beginning of our practice-based making project. The summer of 2025, while climbing with my friend Steph, we mend, test, and craft gears together, learning ways materials fit and move along the climbing body.

What started as a mutual aid and gifting project, to craft the perfect pair of climbing pants and a backpack, then evolved into rockimonki. In a market chasing after a cool, urban lifestyle imagery, we hope to shift focus back to crafting to serve climbing as a practice in itself - return back to nature, back to movements, and to the raw materials and textures. It’s about staying attuned with our climbing body, the very tensions, instincts, and where it touches.

Drawn the mythical Chinese folklore story of “魈” Xiāo, the free-spirited, mischievous mountain-dwelling creature, and as a nod to a playful friendship, we hope rockimonki carries its inwardly-tuned philosophy and mischievous, experimental spirit into your own journey, on and off the rock.
